Updating the site
Hey,
So I'm going to spend a bunch of time this weekend updating this site to the new version of the forum software and making some other small tweaks. Here are some of the things I'm planning:
- Improve the look a bit
- Facebook style feed in addition to the forums
- Better private messages
- Flagging system for moderators
What else do you want to see?

W.W.D.D.D. @45 Alleycat July 9th, 7p.m. Alberta Park
For my 45th birthday I am throwing a Spectacle. Often in life I think to myself, what would DR. Doom do?
On this occasion, the answer appears to be an Alley Cat, in actual alley's....
We will meet at the polo courts, and probably play and party until we group ride from one alley to another, stopping, racing, and partying more as we go.....
This race will be happening mainly close in NE and N Portland, and is formatted so racers and casual riders alike will spend the evening together, so all are involved..... And most will not have far to roll home afterwards.
So, in conclusion:
Starts with polo.
Beer. Tequila. Stuff.
Group ride.
Beer. Tequila. Etc...
BBQ in the middle
Races, sprints. More than you can shake a stick at.
Alleystyle (loosely based on Rickreal Ditchstyle)
Tricycle Race Track event.
Fast Light Figure 8! (Arbor Lodge Polo Court)
Fun.
Beer. Tequila. Etc....
Headaches all around........
DO YOU WANT TO LIVE IN SE FOR A MONTH ON THE EXTRA CHEAPS?!?!
cause i am leaving july 9th and coming back august 4th. my room will be up for a sweet sub-let. $200 for the whole time.
comes with: two sweet roomies, a fridge full of food (well sort of), badass location just blocks away from col summers, fully furnished including dvd player, surround sound, vhs and television, smoking patio, all the other cool shit that you need.
want to move away from the parents for a month? want to "take a break" from the wifey? need an in between spot?
let me know. it would be a shame to see this place lay empty.
some restrictions do apply.

Battle on the Bricks roller race July 13
Alright, so in prep for AVC, my team Project London is throwing a roller racr and trackstand comp at pioneer courthouse square on July 13th at noon. I know, its noon. You have work. I'm here to tell you that no, no you don't. Tell your boss I gave you the day off.
Its $5 to get in. 50% of the cash goes to the winner, and the other half goes to Livestrong. No matter what your take on Lance is, you can't deny that Livestrong does a shit load of good.
PLEASE spread the word on this for me. We have a ton of media coming out for this. Media exposure= higher chance of getting a paycheck. And the more people who are there, the more people who see our sponsors, and again, they become more willing to shell out real money.
Oakley should be there. As should Felt bikes, Subway and Livestrong/Nike. Although unoffical, you can probably expect swag to be thrown around.
Thanks guys
Kevin Mansker

Ladies Polo this thursday evening at Columbia Park!
Hi, this thursday evening we will be playing bike polo on the NE side of columbia Park starting @ 8:00! We play on the tennis courts, and one side will be dedicated to women and beginners. To be pc its essentially a beginners night, but in the mists of trying to create equality in this sport we are dedicating this night to women. Regardless of your gender this can be an intimidating sport, so we have dedicating a space for anyone who wants to get started... and its tons of fun! Hope to see you there!
RIP Ryan Dunn

"Jackass" star Ryan Dunn died in a car crash in Pennsylvania early this morning ... TMZ has confirmed with Bam Margera's mother. 34-year-old Dunn appeared in all of the "Jackass" movies -- famously shoving a toy car into his rectum in the first flick back in 2002.
Dunn and an unidentified person both died in the crash which happened around 3 a.m. at Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen Township. It's unclear who was driving the car.
We're told the car caught fire in the crash -- and hours later, a tow truck was called to the scene to remove the charred wreckage.

Paint your bike thread
there are a few problems with spray paint:
1. it looks like shit. no matter what you do, if you are using paint from a can purchased over the counter it will not look like a factory paint job.
2. spray paint is not durable. i've used 75% of all the paints available OTC and they do not last long. the colors are relatively fugitive(some better than others, bikes in the sun especially fade) and they all chip easily. more prep work and process the better, but again, it will not look like a powdercoat or wet paint.
here are some tips:
-be careful to prep well and mask properly. use masking/blue/frog/electrical/specialty tape/butcher paper and a sharp exacto knife. the more you prep the better.take your time to go over the threads of the BB, the inside of the headtube, the top of the seat tube, over bottle cage holes, insides of cable stops, and threads on the derailleur hanger and wherever you don't want to remove paint. removing paint is more trouble than not preparing enough because you could possibly fuck up your new paint job and it's a PITA. this is also a metaphor for life in general.
-as long as it's not raining or about to rain or just rained, this is the perfect time to paint. you want relative humidity low and 72-80 degrees. Drying times will be what they say on the cans.
-if possible paint in a booth or an open garage or somewhere not dusty and not too breezy.
-keep the painting to a minimum. you want the thinnest coat as possible.
-it's easy to get excited and want to hurry through, if you do that it will look like shit. pace yourself and add a day to your planned completion.
-go as few passes as possible, start off the piece and stop off the piece with a consistent spray 8-10 inches away. It will look splotchy at first, but it will eventually fill in after a few light passes. only 1 or 2 at a time. figure 1 foot a second.
-when there are large wet spots that means you have gone over with too much paint or soon after the previous coat, chill out for a bit and wait for it to dry, now there's a wet spot expect to wait twice as long.
-those wet spots will cause drips or pockets. if you see any, wait for it to dry completely(up to a day) and lightly sand with your 300+ sandpaper. see what you did by getting too excited?
-flat and gloss show defects more than satin and are more difficult to perfect. I have found it's easier to paint with satin and then clear coat with gloss. gets close to gloss paint, but not as glossy.
